Chief Operating Officer

Lee rejoined the Welsh Ambulance Service in July 2019 and is the Chief Operating Officer. He holds a postgraduate qualification in Board Practice and Directorship from Henley Business School.

With over a decade of senior leadership experience in the emergency ambulance and health sector, Lee has worked in locations including London, Wales, New Zealand and Australia, where he was the Executive Director of Operations for Metropolitan Adelaide.

Lee has previously worked in the police service, and during his career, has gained extensive experience of effective emergency contact centre leadership, as well as broader emergency and non-emergency ambulance operations.

In recognition of his distinguished service during the Covid-19 pandemic, Lee was awarded the Queen’s Ambulance Service Medal in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List of 2021. In March 2023, he was admitted as a Member of the Order of St John for his work in creating volunteer alternative responders in Wales.
