Chief People Officer

Alex Nestor joined the Welsh Ambulance Services University NHS Trust as Chief People Officer in October 2026, with responsibility for leading the Trust’s People and Culture portfolio.

Alex joins the Trust from Bristol NHS Foundation Trust, following the merger of North Bristol NHS Trust and University Hospitals Bristol & Weston NHS Foundation Trust, where she was Director of People.

Alex is an experienced Board-level director with a strong track record of delivering transformational workforce strategies, leading cultural change and providing assurance across complex NHS organisations.

She has held a number of regional and national positions and brings extensive experience in strategic workforce redesign, organisational development, partnership working and transformation, with a focus on creating supportive workplace environments where colleagues are empowered to deliver exceptional care.

Alex has a Master’s degree in International Strategic HR Management and HR Leadership, has completed the NHS Leadership Academy Aspirant Director of Workforce Career Development Programme and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).
