A Welsh Ambulance Service employee will undertake a mammoth challenge of walking solo from Rhyl, in North Wales to Cardiff, in South Wales, a distance of 156 miles.
Kieran Reynolds, 31, From Rhyl, is a training assistant based at the Trust’s St Asaph headquarters.
He aims to begin the walk on 28th August and hopes to complete the challenge over the course of seven days.
To make things even more challenging, when it’s time to recharge and get some rest, Kieran is planning on camping out in the open.
Kieran will be raising money jointly for the Welsh Ambulance Service Charity, which uses funds specifically for employees of the Trust while also raising funds for the Ambulance Service Charity (TASC), who provide a range of services to support the mental health, physical rehabilitation, and financial wellbeing of the UK’s ambulance staff, paramedic students, and ambulance service volunteers.
Kieran said: “I have been an employee of the Welsh Ambulance Service (WAST) since March 2021 and I have thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it and I plan to be here for many more years.
“Before joining WAST I never fully understood the pressures the Ambulance Service faced from the outside looking in.
“Now I understand and I have really taken it upon myself the last 12 months to improve staff morale and well-being.
“This walk is a great opportunity to raise some money to support ambulance charities.
David Hopkins, Head of Charity at the Welsh Ambulance Service said: ““We are extremely grateful to Kieran for supporting the Welsh Ambulance Service Charity this summer.
“Through his passion for walking and wild camping, Kieran will raise vital funds so that the Charity can continue to support WAST’s staff, volunteers and patients right across Wales.
“Our thanks go to Kieran and to all of his supporters.”
