Discover Your Future at the 'At Your Service' Recruitment Event in Mid Wales

This unique event will provide residents of Mid Wales with the chance to explore a range of exciting career opportunities in local emergency services and the armed forces.

Representatives from Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, Royal Navy, Welsh Ambulance Service, Dyfed Powys Police, and the Armed Forces will be on hand to offer career advice, share their experiences, and answer any questions.

As one of the few recruitment events of its kind in Mid Wales, this is a fantastic opportunity for local residents, whether school leavers, career changers, or those seeking a new challenge, to get firsthand insights into careers that truly make a difference in their communities.

Sion Breese, North Powys Locality Manager at the Welsh Ambulance Service said: “As part of our rural recruitment campaign, we are committed to exploring opportunities to recruit locally and offer career opportunities within Powys.

“We have volunteer options including, Volunteer Car Service Drivers, Community Welfare Responders or Community First Responders (CFR) which provide an excellent foundation to support entry into employment within the Welsh Ambulance Service.

“There are also corporate roles and opportunities in our clinical contact centre.

“For front-line positions, entry into university to become a qualified Paramedic is one option or direct entry as either an Ambulance Care Assistant or as an Emergency Medical Technician with the opportunity to progress to Paramedic is another.

“Starting my journey as a CFR many years ago provided the skills and knowledge, I needed to join the service and start my career.

“This began with Ambulance Care which progressed to Emergency Medical Technician before I qualified as a Paramedic.

“I then chose the management route by becoming an Operations Manager and more recently Locality Manager for North Powys.

“All of these positions were within 15 minutes of my home demonstrating that career progression really is available in rural Powys.”
