Welsh Ambulance Service worker featured in Coronation procession

AN EMERGENCY Medical Technician has represented the Welsh Ambulance Service in King Charles III’s coronation procession.

Georgia Powell who joined the Trust as an Emergency Medical Technician in 2019, was a Street Liner as part of Operation Golden Orb, the security effort around His Majesty’s coronation on Saturday 06 May.

The 34-year-old was one of 22 UK ambulance services representatives who made up the Uniformed Civilian Services presence on Whitehall in an opportunity organised by The Ambulance Staff Charity (TASC).

Georgia, from Cwmbran, said: “It was such a great day and I felt very lucky to be in attendance as a street liner.

“The atmosphere from the crowd was amazing and my five-year old daughter was very excited that I was going to be part of the day.

“It’s something I will remember for years to come.”

Lee Brooks, the Trust’s Executive Director of Operations, said: “I hope Georgia can take great pride in her involvement in this prestigious and landmark event.

“Organisers at TASC say her conduct was exemplary and that she showed great professionalism as she undertook her role.

“She’s a credit to our service, and I hope she had a memorable day.”
