THE Welsh Ambulance Service has appointed a new interim vice chair.

Ceri Jackson, a non-executive director since 2021, will step into the vice chair role on a temporary basis starting next month.

Ceri’s 30-year career in the charity sector has taken her across Wales and the UK and includes roles as the Head of Community at RNIB, Director of RNIB Cymru and Interim Director of Strategy and Transformation at Tŷ Hafan.

She has been a member of several Boards in Wales in order to help review policy and practice across a range of areas including health, social care and housing.

She has been a trustee of the Stroke Association since 2020 and was previously a trustee and chair for Sight Life, and chair for Age Alliance Wales and the Wales Vision Strategy Advisory Group.

Meanwhile, Professor Kevin Davies, a non-executive director since 2015 and the vice chair since 2017, will resume his non-executive director role on an interim basis until September 2024.

A professor of nursing and disaster healthcare, Kevin has advised at government level on disaster healthcare, education and training in the UK, USA, Japan and Hong Kong, where he was an honorary fellow at Hong Kong University.

He trained as a nurse in Wales in the late 1970s and joined the Territorial Army in 1983, and later the Regular Army.

He was appointed a Member of the Royal Red Cross 1st Class (Military List) in the Birthday Honours in 1997 in recognition of services to the Implementation Force in Bosnia in 1996.

He was also the Queen’s honorary nurse 2009-2012, appointed professor in 2010 and appointed MBE (Civil List) in the Birthday Honours List in 2012.
