WAST Awards shortlist revealed
THE Welsh Ambulance Service has published the shortlist for its annual WAST Awards.
More than 350 nominations were made across 16 categories, including Team of the Year, Community First Responder of the Year and the Emergency Medical Service Award.
Staff, volunteers and the public were invited to cast a vote in six categories, while a panel of cross-service leaders and staff representatives determined the shortlist for the others.
The Trust has partnered with sponsors The Ortus Group to host this year’s event.

Chief Executive Jason Killens said: “Our staff and volunteers are the heartbeat of our service, and we simply could not function without them.
“We are proud to be celebrating their achievements and to be shining a well-deserved spotlight on their contributions this year.
“It’s fantastic to hear about how many nominations we received this year, which was 100 more than last year.
“This is a true testament to the dedication of our staff and volunteers over the past 12 months and I want to personally thank each and every one of them for their hard work while serving our communities.
“The nominations this year are of a very high calibre, and frankly everyone deserves an award.
“However, our shortlist really does highlight the best of our best.
“Thank you to everyone who took the time to submit a nomination, whether you are a member of public or one of our colleagues.
“Your nominations mean a lot to our people.
“I would like to extend a huge congratulations to everyone who made the shortlist, and a huge thanks to The Ortus Group for making this year’s event possible.”
Winners will be announced at a ceremony on 10 October at Newport’s International Convention Centre.
Staff, volunteers and the public can watch via a live stream, details for which will be published in the coming weeks.
