New Cwmbran station officially opened

MODERN NEW station for corporate and operations staff based in Cwmbran has been officially opened

Crews from the Welsh Ambulance Service’s Grange University Hospital (GUH) Transfer Service, previously based in an old recreation hall have moved into the facility, which was unveiled yesterday by Chief Executive Jason Killens.

The 12,109 square foot building, named Beacon House includes a training, study and ICT space, vehicle charging and wash down areas, kitchen facilities and locker rooms.

The facility also boasts 56 desks for corporate colleagues who have relocated from nearby Vantage Point House in Cwmbran.

Joanne Williams, Head of Capital Development said: “One of our main priorities was to make sure operational colleagues from the GUH, and corporate colleagues have fit for purpose facilities that they deserve.

“I’m thrilled that it’s fully functional and that a multitude of teams have been able to use the space.”

The buildings refurbishment was completed by a Cwmbran-based contractor, Stacey Construction LTD.

Richard Davies, Assistant Director of Capital and Estates at the Welsh Ambulance Service said: “It’s particularly fantastic to see the GUH team in a new and improved facility, as previously they were working out of an old recreational hall.

“Beacon House has been equipped with solar panels and battery storage as part of the service’s decarbonisation agenda, and is part of a broader programme of work to modernise the Trust’s estates.

“It’s a facility the Capital and Estates team have been proud to work on and one the staff can be proud to work from.”
