WAST Awards 2024 shortlist revealed

THE Welsh Ambulance Service has published the shortlist for its annual WAST Awards.

More than 300 nominations were made across 16 categories, including Team of the Year, Community Responder of the Year and the Emergency Medical Service Award.

Staff, volunteers and the public were invited to cast a vote in six categories, while a panel of cross-service leaders and staff representatives determined the shortlist for the others.

Chief Executive Jason Killens said: “Our staff and volunteers are integral to our service, bringing that incredibly important personal and human element to those in most need of help and we simply could not function without them.

“We are proud to be celebrating and recognising their achievements, shining a well-deserved spotlight on their contributions this year.

“It’s great to hear that for the second year in a row that we received more than 300 nominations.

“This is a true reflection of the dedication shown by our staff and volunteers over the past 12 months and I want to personally thank each and every one of them for their hard work while serving our communities.

“As with previous years, nominations are of a very high calibre and all are deserving of an award.

“However, our shortlist really does highlight the very best of our staff and volunteers.

“Thank you to everyone who took the time to submit a nomination, whether you are a member of public or one of our colleagues.

“Your nominations mean a lot to our people.

Winners will be announced at a ceremony on 12 November 2024 at Newport’s International Convention Centre.
